The problem

Half Baked Harvest is a hugely popular recipe site and cookbook series — and, like most recipe apps, its digital experience gets in the way while you’re actually cooking. Cluttered pages and ads, weak search for dietary needs or the ingredients you have, poor meal planning and grocery integration, and step-by-step guidance that’s hard to follow with flour on your hands.

What I did

As a cooking hobbyist I designed a concept app end to end: competitive analysis of Allrecipes, Tasty, and Yummly; two personas (Jessica, new to cooking and needing visual guidance; Andre, a busy parent who needs fast, kid-friendly meals); user stories; a site map; wireframes; and high-fidelity screens in Figma.

The app is organized around one journey — Search → Save → Shop → Cook. Advanced filters for cuisine, diet, ingredients, and prep time. A “Cook This Week” planner that builds one consolidated shopping list. A distraction-free cook mode with visual step-by-step guidance. A personalized home feed.

What happened

This is a portfolio concept, not a shipped product — a way to show consumer-app thinking and visual craft outside fintech and B2B.
